Rebecca C.
With a helping hand from PeoplePower, one woman engineered a stunning turn-around from eight years in prison to pursuing a career as a criminal defense attorney. Rebecca C. is 49 years old and started using drugs in her teens after a sexual trauma. In prison for selling drugs since November 1992, Rebecca came to PeoplePower in October 2006.
Rebecca enrolled in the 28 Days to Employment system, and upon completion, found a position as a legal secretary with a criminal defense law firm.
PeoplePower helped her get financial assistance so that she could pursue her career ambition as a lawyer and help others, and is now attending UWM to obtain her undergraduate degree and then continue on to Law School. Upon graduation Rebecca plans on working with her firm as a criminal defense attorney.
